John Kelly is one of Ireland’s best-known broadcasters. A SONY, EMA & PPI award winner, he has presented some of the best-loved and most critically acclaimed music programmes on the Irish airwaves.
John has written extensively for publications including The Irish Times, The Sunday Business Post, The Sunday Tribune and, as an author, has published two novels with the prestigious publishing house Jonathan Cape – The Little Hammer and Sophisticated Boom Boom. Another novel From Out of the City from US publishers Dalkey Archive was shortlisted for Irish Novel of the Year at the Bord Gáis Irish Book Awards in 2014. Notions – a debut poetry collection – was published by Dedalus Press in 2018. A radio play The Pipes was broadcast on RTE.
A frequent and authoritative public speaker, John excels as a host and public interviewer, and has presented prestigious events at The Kennedy Center in Washington, the Guggenheim in New York, the Barbican in London, the Royal Festival Hall, The National Concert Hall, Dublin and the Abbey Theatre.
