The Make a Move festival opens it’s five day (Oct 4-8th) programme with two documentaries.

Featuring artists like Rusangano Family, This Side Up and Jafaris, “The truth about Irish hip hop” looks at the origins of hip hop in Ireland and it’s rise in popularity and quality in recent years.

Following two sold out screenings at the Dublin International Film Festival, “Notes on Rave in Dublin” gets its first screening in Limerick. Using oral histories, rare footage and an atmospheric electronica score, The Irish Times says it “unearths the buried history of the capital’s 1990 counterculture”. It also shows how an underground culture works, mutates and survives.

Now it’s sixth year, Make a Move Festival programme this year features live gigs, talks, street art and film. It places an important focus on workshops and celebrates and fosters creativity in all fields associated with hip hop culture.
