Queen of Technicolor

Written and performed by Elaine O’Dwyer | Directed by Gráinne Byrne

Belltable | Thur 22nd (preview) & Fri 23rd Nov | €17/€15 (€13 preview)

Queen of Technicolor marks the third year anniversary of Maureen O’ Hara’s passing. The show reveals the person behind the persona and sheds a light on the struggles that O’ Hara faced and overcame throughout her career during Hollywood’s Golden Age. In light of the sexual harassment scandals that have surfaced over the past year, it is high time that Maureen’s story, which sheds light on what went on behind the scenes even then, is told.

The audience will share an intimate journey with O’Hara in her home in Glengarriff in 1971, getting to know the person she was behind the limelight. As Elaine Parkey, a close friend of Maureen’s, said “She’s not a movie star, she’s a person”. Within a stream of consciousness and flashback scenes, Elaine O’Dwyer will play a variety of characters in order to bring moments and events of significance to life.
